Family Court Granted The Divorce To Arvind Swamy

Arvind Swamy, the yesteryear chocolate hero of Tamil cinema, was on Friday obtained divorce from his wife Gayathri Ramamurthy by mutual consent from the Family Court in Chennai.

Principal Family Court Judge S Meenakshisundaram granted the divorce to the couple and announced that their marriage solemnised in June 1994 was dissolved by a decree of mutual consent.

On December 1, the couple had filed a joint memorandum before the Court detailing their settlement covering maintenance, custody of children and visiting rights.

As per the agreement, Arvind Swamy will make a one-time payment of Rs 75 lakh to his wife, in addition to a monthly payment of one lakh towards maintenance from the date of dissolution of the marriage.

The monthly alimony would not be enhanced under any circumstances, the agreement said. Both of them agreed to exhaustive set of terms and conditions covering maintenance, custody of their two children and visiting rights.

Aravind Swamy's Divorce Payment To His Wife

Aravind Samy and his wife Gayathri Ramamurthy on Wednesday approached the Principal Family Court at the Madras High Court campus seeking divorce on mutual consent.

When their petition came up before the Principal Judge S Meenakshisundaram, it was informed that the actor would make a one-time payment of Rs 75 lakhs to his wife, in addition to a monthly payment of Rs one lakh towards maintenance from the date of dissolution of their marriage.

The couple submitted in their application that due to incompatibility of temperament, they had not been able to lead a happy married life and were discontent with each other.

The Judge, after recording evidence on their plea, adjourned the matter to December 10 for orders.

Aravind Samy and Gayathri were married in 1994 and they have two children. The couple has been living separately since December 2003. Last May, both moved the family court in Chennai seeking divorce.
